Lawyer

I am a true startup/tech lawyer. I understand the journey my clients go through and understand the technical aspects of their business. This allows me to provide practical and strategic legal advice to startups and tech companies of all sizes, ranging from early stage to scale-up 🚀

Services

I have the great pleasure of working with and providing legal and commercial services to a number of startups. I specialise in providing legal services in the following areas:

Web3 - including NFT, cryptocurrency, DAO, ICO and IDO projects. From a legal perspective, I provide financial services law support (AFSL, ACL, AML/CTF related services), Intellectual property services, and general commercial services (eg. terms and conditions, contracts etc);

Fintechs - including banking, lending, credit, data aggregation, Open Banking and enterprise and consumer related services. From a legal perspective, I provide financial services law support (AFSL, ACL, AML/CTF related services) and general commercial services (eg. terms and conditions, contracts etc);

Cap Raising - provided legal services to assist all startups in raising capital from Angels and VCs ranging from pre-seed to Series B and beyond. This includes drafting and amending SAFEs, SAFTs, subscription agreements, shareholders agreements, constitutions and support due diligence 💸

Others - including biotechs, AI/ML startups, entertainment companies, hardware startups. This usually requires me to provide general commercial legal services (eg. contract drafting).

Experience

I'm not going to give you my resume here, but I'll give you some of my key experiences.

After (kinda) accidentally setting up Elias Consulting after helping my startup friends do legal things, I realised I was offering something different in the market. I wasn't just a lawyer who worked with startups, I was true startup lawyer. I was able to provide practical and strategic legal and consulting services to clients because I actually understood what their startups did and I know the challenges founders face.

While running this company, I had the opportunity to join a rapidly growing startup, Frollo. I joined as a jack of all trades (as you often do in an early stage startup) as the commercial/legal guy. With Frollo's growth, I eventually earned the title of Head of Legal/Commercial. Frollo became a market leader in Open Banking software in Australia and achieved an exit and it was great to be apart of a successful startup journey.

Once Frollo had established itself in the market, I realised that I could do more and help a lot more startups succeed. I had really exciting opportunities to grow Elias Consulting, but after I was introduced to LegalVision we, very quickly, realised that we'd benefit from joining forces!

Which leads me to today! I now work with LegalVision as a Practice Leader, building the Web3 and Fintech practice and work with the cap raising team (who are arguably the most talented cap raising team in Australia!).
